6.1General Business2026 WILDFIRE PREPARATION Staff will update the Board on Santa Rosa Water’s wildfire preparedness efforts, including an update on projects that are improving our resiliency. The Board may discuss this item and give direction to staff.

Santa Rosa Water staff will present an update on the city's plans to prepare for wildfires and protect water infrastructure, including new projects designed to make the system more resilient to fire threats.

6.2General Business2026 CREEK WEEK UPDATE Santa Rosa Water participates in the regional recognition of "Creek Week" as a way to celebrate and clean up our local waterways and educate the public on ways to prevent creek pollution. A proclamation will be presented at City Council on September 15, 2026, proclaiming September 19-25, 2026, as "Creek Week". Staff is coordinating a creek to coast cleanup day, a guided nature walk, underground culvert tours, and local creek cleanups along Prince Memorial Greenway. The Board may discuss this item and give direction to staff.

Santa Rosa Water is organizing Creek Week (September 19-25, 2026) to celebrate local waterways and involve residents through cleanup events, nature walks, and educational activities; the city council will officially declare these dates as Creek Week on September 15.

6.3General BusinessREVIEW OF THE TRUCKED WASTE PROGRAM- LAGUNA

The board will examine how the Laguna facility's program for managing trucked waste is currently operating and discuss any needed changes or improvements.

The Board of Public Utilities is being asked to approve a three-year contract with the Sonoma Resource Conservation District for $132,550.50 to monitor and verify phosphorus offset credits that Santa Rosa Water generates to comply with state water quality requirements for the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed. The City currently operates four projects that generate these credits, and the contract includes ongoing annual verification of those projects plus development of new offset opportunities to ensure the City maintains enough verified credits to stay compliant with its pollution permit. This is the result of a competitive bidding process that closed in June 2026, and funding for the first year is already available in the Water Department's operations budget.
