↓ Staff Report
The Design Review and Preservation Board is asked to review and provide feedback on a proposed bronze commemorative plaque for Old Courthouse Square recognizing Santa Rosa's role in launching Women's History Month, which originated with a 1978 Women's History Week celebration in the county and eventually became a national observance through the work of local advocates and the National Women's History Project founded here in 1980. The plaque, sponsored by the Saturday Afternoon Club, would be approximately 30 inches by 24 inches, mounted on a steel post at the northeast corner of the northwest planter bed, and the Board's input will help refine the design before the proposal goes to City Council for final approval in early 2027, with a dedication planned for March 2027. There is no fiscal impact to the city.
