Board members have an opportunity to share community news, announce upcoming events, and raise concerns affecting Santa Rosa residents.

7.1General BusinessMOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION - SOUTH PARK RESOURCE FAIR BACKGROUND: The Community Advisory Board (CAB) reviews and approves the 2026 Community Improvement Grant Applications. The Board shall award grants to the applicants whose projects best meet the criteria. There are four grants that have been submitted for the April-May 2026 period: The South Park Resource Fair grant application submitted by South Park Coalition is requesting $2,500 to host the South Park Resource Fair. This is an event that will bring more than 30 community partners to share resources and information with residents. Their objectives are: 1)

7.2General BusinessMOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION - CMOSC MUSEUM-ON-THE-GO The CMOSC Museum-on-the-Go grant application submitted by Children's Museum of Sonoma County is requesting $2,500 to host their Museum-on-the-Go program. Museum-on-the-Go aims to deliver CMOSC’s unique, vibrant, STEAM-focused programming to children and their caregivers who might not otherwise be able to visit our permanent Santa Rosa location, while simultaneously educating caregivers and childcare providers throughout Sonoma County about the Children’s Museum and the accessible/affordable, playful learning opportunities it provides. Their belief is that all children, regardless of geography or economic status, have the right to playful learning opportunities critically needed for healthy brain development that will help kids achieve their full potential as engaged learners and successful members of society. The Children's Museum of Sonoma County is requesting $2,500 to bring their Museum-on-the-Go program to underserved areas throughout Sonoma County, providing hands-on STEAM learning activities to children and families who cannot visit the permanent Santa Rosa location.
7.3General BusinessMOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION - SRJC FORENSICS INTRAMURAL TOURNAMENT The SRJC Forensics Intramural Tournament grant application submitted by the SRJC Forensics, Speech, Debate, and Performance Team is requesting $2,324.7 to hold their Spring tournament. This tournament is designed to help students practice using their voices in a public setting, creating and maintaining a link among students, faculty, and the larger Santa Rosa community. At each event 15-200 SRJC students ranging from ages 15-75 give speeches and debate in front tot 30-50 community members who volunteer as the audience. The larger community is welcome to attend the final rounds, to witness the competitors, and to join the team the next semester, as the team is open to all community members. Santa Rosa Junior College's Forensics team is requesting $2,324.70 to host their Spring intramural speech and debate tournament, which gives students and community members ages 15-75 the opportunity to practice public speaking and compete in front of volunteer audiences.
7.4General BusinessMOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION - CELEBRATION OF JOY BLACK JOY The Celebration of Joy Black Joy grant application submitted by She Inspires Inc. is requesting $2,500 to host Black Joy celebration. This celebration is a free community-centered event designed to uplift, celebrate, and affirm Black Joy through art, music, storytelling, small business engagement, and intergenerational connection. The project creates a welcoming, family-friendly space where community members can gather, be seen, and experience joy as a form of resilience and
She Inspires Inc. is requesting $2,500 to host a free Celebration of Joy Black Joy event featuring art, music, storytelling, and small business engagement to uplift and celebrate Black joy as a form of community resilience.
