5.1New BusinessURBAN WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN AND WATER SHORTAGE

City staff will discuss Santa Rosa's urban water management plan and strategies for responding to potential water shortages.

5.2New BusinessAB 1572 BAN ON IRRIGATING NONFUNCTIONAL TURF

The city will review a new state law (AB 1572) that bans watering of decorative grass that serves no practical purpose, and determine how Santa Rosa will implement this requirement.

5.3New BusinessWATER USE EFFICIENCY AWARD NOMINATIONS Staff will present recommendations for the 2026 Water-Use Efficiency Awards for the Subcommittee’s approval, which will be presented at a City Council meeting in May in conjunction with the Proclamation of Water Awareness Month. Staff will also provide an update on other planned Water Awareness Month activities. The Subcommittee may discuss this item and give direction to staff.

The city is seeking nominations and will approve winners of the 2026 Water-Use Efficiency Awards, which will be celebrated at a May City Council meeting as part of Water Awareness Month.

2027New BusinessStaff will review compliance timelines and approach as well as opportunities to adapt customer programs to achieve compliance. The Subcommittee may discuss this item and give direction to staff.

Staff will outline the timeline and steps needed to comply with the decorative turf ban, including any adjustments to water conservation programs for residents and businesses.
