This is an informational update on Redwood Bikeshare, which launched in Santa Rosa in March 2025 with 38 e-bikes and 8 hub locations and has since expanded to 68 bikes and 38 dropzone locations across the city. The bikeshare program, funded by a regional $826,000 Metropolitan Transportation Commission grant and operated by Drop Mobility, aligns with city goals to improve infrastructure and foster a healthy community, with the current 2-year pilot running through mid-October 2026. Staff and regional partners are already exploring additional public funding to sustain operations beyond the pilot period, and Drop Mobility is seeking private sponsors to fund new hub locations.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board is receiving an informational update on the Greenway Connectivity Study, which aims to close a gap between the existing Prince Memorial Greenway and the future Southeast Greenway using federal grant funding. Staff has developed three alternatives combining protected bike lanes and neighborhood greenways along different routes, and is now conducting a public survey through July 31, 2026 to gather community feedback, with particular attention to how each option serves people with mobility limitations, families with children, and people carrying groceries. Once survey results are analyzed, staff will select a preferred alternative and move forward with final design and funding, potentially leveraging additional grant money depending on the chosen route.

City staff is submitting a Complete Streets Checklist to regional transportation agencies to support a grant application for multimodal improvements on Santa Rosa Avenue and Petaluma Hill Road, both high-injury corridors in an equity priority neighborhood. The project stems from community input gathered through Santa Rosa's 2025 Active Transportation Plan and the South Santa Rosa Community Based Transportation Plan, with the goal of adding Class IV bike lanes, improving pedestrian crossings, enhancing transit stops, and calming traffic on these busy arterial streets. The staff report is informational only and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board's review is being sought to validate the checklist before submission; if funded, the project would enter a design phase involving coordination between the City, CityBus, and Sonoma County Transit with no current fiscal impact to the General Fund.
