hello and welcome everyone to our special meeting today, JUNE 6, 2024. It is now 3.37. And we will begin our meeting. Scenic or MADAM City clerk me please call the roll. Councilmember Rogers councilmember, Councilmember MacDonald here, Councilmember Fleming here, councilmember over PRESIDENT Vice mayor step here. Mayor Rogers PRESIDENT, let the record show all council members are present. Thank you. We have one agenda item today and that is item 3.1. And to introduce that item. I will pass it on to MADAME City attorney. >> Thank you, MADAM Mayor Council we as you all know, some exciting news. Councilmember Rogers welcomed a new baby into his family we are excited for Councilmember and here today in order to have council do something that it is required to do under a rule. I have of your rules and protocol. Councilmember Rogers last attended a regular city council meeting on MAY 8th and was absent from the last 2 regular council meetings on MAY 21st in JUNE 4th earlier this week under rule I have of the city council procedures and protocols if a council member is absent without a council permission from all regular city council meetings for 30 days, consecutively from the last regular meeting here she attends his or her office becomes vacant and

shall be filled as any other vacancy. Although Councilmember Rogers has informed staff that he plans to participate in the next regular city council meeting scheduled for JUNE 18th. It is my recommendation that council and nevertheless go ahead and excuse his absences from all regular meetings all the way till the end of JUNE. Out of an abundance of caution, should he be unable to attend the JUNE 18th meeting as planned? So it is my recommendation that the council by motion approve Councilmember Chris Rogers absences from all regular city council meetings from MAY first to 2024.
